Catch the spirit with “A Dickens Vest Pocket Christmas Carol” at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center, Dec. 19-20

In this retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic tale, all the beloved characters appear to help Scrooge in his journey toward redemption and enlightenment.

In this retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic tale, all the beloved characters appear to help Scrooge in his journey toward redemption and enlightenment. This delightful play is adapted and directed by ASC staff member and ArtPlay teaching artist Jerry Sims, whose popular original productions include “Yuletide in Dogtown,” “Alice’s EVEN BIGGER Tea Party” and “Down the Yellow Brick Road.”

The cast includes Sims as Ebenezer Scrooge; UAB Theatre student Calvin Nielsen portraying Young Scrooge, Topper and Peter; Holly Croney Dikeman as Mrs. Cratchet and the Ghost of Christmas Past; Ron Bourdages as Charles Dickens and the Ghost of Christmas Present; Darrell Revel as Marley and Joe; J. Heath Mixon as Bob Cratchet and  Fezziwig; Lindsey Culver as Millie and Dilber; Nathan Merritt as Fred, Dick Wilkins and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come; Logan Eagan as Tiny Tim; and Jessica Holdnak as Martha, Belle and Fannie. Members of the cast also will perform as the chorus.

The crew includes Mindy Egan as stage manager, Ed Gurney as set supervisor, Mary Gurney as costumes and makeup supervisor, and ASC tech member Dana Pharo as lighting director.

ArtPlay will present Meet the Artist school shows at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day Dec. 18-19.
