Rapid Fire, a gathering of artists and thinkers designed to help build community and foster dialogue, will be hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Art and Art History on Friday, Sept. 5.
Established by Amy Pleasant, a Birmingham native and internationally renowned artist, Rapid Fire gathers Birmingham creative professionals from a wide range of disciplines. The event includes short, informal presentations by invited participants as well as idea sharing and creative conversation.
Presenting at Rapid Fire XII are: the Birmingham Museum of Art’s curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Wassan Al-Khudhairi; UAB Associate Professor of Graphic Design Doug Barrett; director of the UAB College of Arts and Sciences’ Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts Lisa Tamiris Becker; visual artist and curator Dan Bynum; former curator of African art at the Birmingham Museum of Art Ellen Elsas; UAB Assistant Professor of New Media Elisabeth Pellathy; and UAB Associate Professor of Theatre Cliff Simon.
