The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Art and Art History will host the Art History Master of Arts Symposium, an annual daylong symposium shared with the University of Alabama, on Friday, March 7, at the UAB Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts.Juried graduate student research papers will be presented throughout the day. University of California–Riverside Associate Professor Jeanette Kohl, Ph.D., is the keynote speaker for the symposium. She will present her lecture Serial Patricians: Authenticity and Duplication in Renaissance Portraiture at 5 p.m. in the AEIVA Lecture Hall, 1221 10th Ave. South. Kohl will speak about her research, which focuses on image concepts and strategies of representation in the Italian Renaissance, with a particular interest in portraiture and methodology. This lecture is sponsored by the John S. Jemison Fund and the UAB Department of Art and Art History.
