The Viva Health Starlight Gala, originally scheduled April 21, now will be held Friday, June 15. Ticket holders will receive new tickets for the same seats for the new date. Ticketholders also may choose to exchange their ticket for another performance in the center’s season or receive a refund.
“Pacino, One Night Only” will begin with the actor discussing his life, legendary career and backstage tales from a lifetime spent in the world of film and theater. He will show never-before-seen film clips and retrospectives and answer questions from the audience afterward. The show will feel like an evening “Inside the Actors Studio,” an informative, conversational, funny, but serious discussion of the art of film and Pacino’s career.
The elegant fundraiser benefits the arts programming, education and outreach programs and initiatives of the ASC. Two ticket options remain: $125 for regular seating and a glamorous red carpet-worthy pre-show party, or the Hollywood A-Lister package, which includes premium seating for the performance and the red carpet pre-show party for $175.
To purchase tickets call the Alys Stephens Center Box Office at 205-975-2787 or visit the center at 1200 10th Ave. South. Tickets will be available for online purchase Monday, Feb. 13; visit www.AlysStephens.org.
Pacino is among a select group of actors who have won the Triple Crown of acting: Oscar, Tony and Emmy awards. Known for intense and gritty performances, Pacino shot to fame for his role in “The Godfather” and went on to star in “Serpico,” “Dog Day Afternoon,” “Scarface,” “The Godfather: Part III,” “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “Scent of a Woman” and 2010’s Broadway production of “The Merchant of Venice.”
The Viva Health Starlight Gala is Birmingham’s premier performing arts event, celebrating creativity, diversity and all genres of the performing arts. Past performers include The Pointer Sisters, Smokey Robinson, Diana Krall, Itzhak Perlman, Queen Latifah, Mandy Patinkin, Natalie Cole, Willie Nelson, Bobby McFerrin and Frederica Von Stade.
Honorary chairs for the 2012 gala are UAB President Carol Garrison and Julian Banton. The evening’s marquee sponsors are VIVA Health and UAB.
