Southern Circuit Film Screening & Director Q&A: “Louder Than a Bomb,” 7 p.m., in UAB’s Alys Stephens Center, 1200 10th Ave. South. Featuring Southern Circuit Independent Film Screenings and Meet the Director events. This season, the ASC and Sidewalk Film Festival celebrate the art of film with these special events designed to get you up close and personal with the country’s hottest new directors. See the film, then meet the filmmakers and discuss the artwork. Every year, more than 600 teenagers from 60+ Chicago-area schools gather for the world’s largest youth poetry slam, a competition known as “Louder Than a Bomb.” Founded in 2001, it’s the only event of its kind in the country, a youth poetry slam built from the beginning around teams. Directed by Greg Jacobs and Jon Siskel, the film chronicles the stereotype-confounding stories of four teams as they prepare for and compete in the 2008 event. Tickets are $10, $8 students.
