University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Music will present performances by students, faculty and guest artists, including an exceptional alumnus.
This fall, theThe Department of Music, in the College of Arts and Sciences, presents recitals and concerts each fall and spring semester. Many of the performances are free and open to the public.
This fall, the UAB Piano Series will present Cahill Smith on Sept. 22 as he performs a program of Rachmaninoff and Medtner. Smith, a UAB alumnus, is associate professor of piano at Utah State University. Guest artists Malena McLaren and Chialing Hsieh will perform Spanish music for clarinet and piano Friday, Oct. 25. The Alabama Symphony Orchestra and the UAB Department of Music will present “A Gospel Symphony Celebration with Dr. Henry Panion III” Sunday, Nov. 17. On Thursday, Dec. 5, do not miss Christmas at the Alys, an annual celebration of the season featuring UAB choral ensembles and area high school choirs.
Most performances are held in the Hulsey Center for the Arts’ Mary Culp Hulsey Recital Hall and UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.
