“April is for the Arts” is presented by the UAB College of Arts and Sciences. Featured are students from the departments of MusicTheatreEnglishArt and Art History, and History and the Media Studies Program — and the extraordinary talent from across the college’s fine art academic units.

College of Arts and Sciences Dean Kecia M. Thomas, Ph.D., says an incredible variety of arts programs and events will be available.

“For many students who are pursuing a degree in the arts, the month of April provides several opportunities to publicly showcase years of creative work and talent, including culminating events like the Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition at AEIVA,” Thomas said. “I look forward to celebrating their hard work and, once again, being in awe of their talent. I’m also grateful for our fine arts faculty who invest in developing this next generation while sharing their own gifts worldwide.”

Among the highlights are Theatre UAB’s production of the Stephen Sondheim musical “Into the Woods” and piano recitals by students of Distinguished Professor of Piano Yakov Kasman, DMA. Performances will be held in UAB’s Mary Culp Hulsey Recital Hall and Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. Explore the offerings highlighted in the list below, many of them free.
