Stream Into the streets mural 21The University of Alabama at Birmingham Leadership and Service Council will present Into the Streets, a day of service for the UAB community, Saturday, Sept. 17.

UAB students, faculty and staff come together twice a year for Into the Streets to serve and make a positive impact on the Birmingham community. Since its inaugural event in 1999, volunteers have cleaned, organized, improved and repaired areas throughout the city.

The event begins at 9 a.m. with participants’ gathering at the Hill Student Center Amphitheater for a kick-off breakfast. Service will take place from 10 a.m.-noon.

More than 350 volunteers are expected to serve at this years’ service sites, painting, planting, composting, sanding, hanging and tagging clothes, sorting books, pulling weeds, packaging and distributing food, and more. Some service sites for the event are STAIR of Birmingham, Sozo Children, UAB Solar House, Greater Birmingham Humane Society and East Lake Farmer’s Market Senior Bag Program. Volunteers can explore sites and directly register here.

Community agencies interested in hosting UAB volunteers during the spring 2023 Into the Streets can submit a project for consideration by visiting BlazerPulse.
