Health care workers showcase their musical talents and perform 20-minute sets throughout the day at UAB Hospital and The Kirklin Clinic.Expect music from unexpected performers Thursday, May 19, when the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Arts in Medicine presents Medical Music Day.
Musical members of the UAB Medicine community will fill the guest areas with the sweet sounds of singing, piano, flute, guitar, violin, trumpet, saxophone and more throughout the day.
Performers will present in 20-minute sets throughout the day. The performances will start at 10 a.m. in UAB Hospital’s North Pavilion second-floor atrium and on the first floor of The Kirklin Clinic.
Musical performers will include physicians, therapists, medical students, chaplains, researchers, administrators, instructors, volunteers and others. This is the fifth annual Medical Music Day event, which is resuming in person after being paused during the pandemic.
UAB Arts in Medicine offers active and passive arts experiences by bringing live performances and visual art to the health care setting, and artists in residence to the bedside. AIM has served more than 107,000 patients, families and staff at UAB Hospital since its inception in 2013.
