ArtPlay at the University of Alabama at Birmingham has announced its summer camp classes in musical theater and visual arts.
The camps are designed to foster creativity in children ages 7-18. Three musical theater and two visual arts camps are accepting registration now. ArtPlay instructors strive to bring out the creativity in all students participating in summer camps. Camps are designed for campers to learn something new. ArtPlay Musical Theatre camps:

ArtPlay Musical Theatre Camp I, “Annie Kids,” for ages 7-12, is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 6-17. Cost is $475; class capacity is 35.

ArtPlay Musical Theatre Camp II, Disney’s “Moana Jr.,” for ages 9-14 and directed by Jennifer Salvant, is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 21-July 2. Cost is $475; class capacity is 35.

ArtPlay Musical Theatre Camp III, “Footloose: Youth Edition” for ages 12-18 and directed by Reid Watson, is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 11-29. Cost is $600; class capacity is 35.
ArtPlay Musical Theatre campers will be introduced to singing, dancing and theater. No experience is required. Camp will culminate in a final showcase, as campers create a full production on stage at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.

ArtPlay Visual Arts Camp I, ages 7-14, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 27-July 1. Cost is $275; class capacity is 20.

ArtPlay Visual Arts Camp II, ages 7-14, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 18-22. Cost is $275; class capacity is 20.
ArtPlay’s award-winning visual arts camps offer classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, crafts and more. All students who love creating art are welcome. Each day offers a new discovery, and at the end of camp, students will have their very own art show, with their works featured in a finale exhibition in the historic ArtPlay House in Five Points South.
Safety is UAB’s priority. The pandemic is a fluid situation that UAB is monitoring, in consultation with infectious disease and public health experts; events will be subject to change based on the latest COVID-19 safety guidelines. All camps are registered with UAB’s Youth Protection program. Protocols for in-person summer camps may include masking, daily temperature checks, social distancing, smaller groups, outdoor rehearsals and more.
