Jerry Ryan, Bobby Horton, Brad Ryan and Andy Meginniss of Three on a String come from diverse career backgrounds. In 2016, Three on a String celebrated 45 years in the entertainment business, an accomplishment in today’s fast-changing society. These veteran entertainers keep a busy schedule with performances and celebrations.
“There is no feeling in the world like presenting our show to an audience that has no idea who we are and having the show close with a standing ovation,” Jerry Ryan said.
Ryan and Horton performed as a duet for one show at Horse Pens 40 near Steel, Alabama, in 1971. Big-band music veteran George Pruitt suggested they add a bass and Three on a String was born. Some personnel changes and lots of one-nighters eventually evolved into performances with symphony orchestras in several states, including a nine-city tour with the Alabama Symphony, opening for Bill Cosby, Red Skelton, Barbara Mandrell, Jeff Foxworthy, George Lindsey, Ray Stevens and many more stars.
As Three on a String says from the stage, “Let’s have some fun” at the LIVE Drive-in.
Other upcoming LIVE Drive-in concerts from the Alys Stephens Center this fall include Raquel Lily on Nov. 6, Young Concert Artist classical bassist Xavier Foley on Nov. 18, and Eric Essix and Holiday Soul on Dec. 13.
