Visiting artist and designer Parisa Tashakori will lecture and work with students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Wednesday, March 6.
The visit is presented by the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History. During her visit to UAB, Tashakori will also lead design workshops with UAB DAAH graphic design students.
The lecture is set for 6 p.m. at UAB’s Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts, AEIVA Hess Lecture Hall. Tashakori’s lecture is free and open to the public and is supported by the Jemison Visiting Professorship in the Humanities.
Tashakori is a visual artist and graphic designer from Tehran. After running her own studio in Iran, Tashakori currently lives and works in Boulder, Colorado. Her work incorporates a range of letterforms and languages, including English, Persian and Arabic. Tashakori has used her expertise in a variety of industries, but says her passion is work within art and culture, as well as socially and environmentally focused projects.
Her work has been exhibited in more than 80 international exhibitions, including the COW! Festival in Ukraine, the Ekoplagat in Slovakia, the Tehran Poster Biennial and the Ukraine Eco Poster Triennial 4th-Block, among others. She has collaborated as a designer and art director with several international advertising agencies and cultural institutions and has served as a lecturer and juror for significant competitions and festivals around the world.
