Our faculty collaborate with biomedical engineers on novel applications of tissue engineering to improve treatment of disease, particularly through 3D bioprinting. Current studies include the development of a 3D model of human parathyroid for use as a replacement organ and platform to test pharmacological strategies to treat hyperparathyroidism, as well as the development of a modified micro-extrusion bioprinter for printing a 3D skin substitute.
