Meet Carli Calderone, M.D, one of UAB's faculty members in the Department of Radiology.
What is your full name, title, and position?
Carli Calderone, Assistant Professor in the Abdominal Imaging Section
Where are you from?
Akron, OH
Why did you choose to work at UAB?
Professionally, UAB is a great place and the work we do here is interesting, challenging and rewarding. But the real reason I stayed is the people. I get to work with the most supportive group who care about me both personally and professionally, and nothing beats that.
Why did you choose radiology?
Radiology found me after a false start in a different career. I enjoy learning every day, collaborating with colleagues across different specialties, and the ability to contribute greatly to patient care. I also like the balance between intellectual challenges reading studies and physical challenges learning new procedures.
What are your career interests and goals?
I enjoy teaching and mentoring, which are large reasons I chose to stay in academic radiology. Aside from that, my goal is always to become the most useful and helpful radiologist I can be for my referring clinicians and patients.
What are your professional interests?
Abdominal imaging, cross-sectional procedures
What are your personal hobbies?
Spending time with my friends and family, especially playing baseball with my son, gardening, and traveling.
