Deepak Prabataram Kalbi, M.D., completed his high school education in Baroda, Gujarat, India, and earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Odessa National Medical University. He completed an internship at Baroda Medical College, Sir Sayajirao General Hospital. Following this, he pursued training in Internal Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University. He then completed a residency in Nuclear Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he also served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Kalbi joined the UAB Department of Radiology in October 2024, where he serves as an clinical assistant professor in the Division of Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics. He is deeply passionate about the clinical practice of Nuclear Medicine.

Dr. Kalbi's clinical interests include multimodality molecular imaging techniques such as SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and PET/MRI. He is also focused on Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT), Therapeutics, Nuclear Cardiology, and Education.

His research focuses on the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging and theranostics in oncology, as well as advancements in Targeted Radioligand Therapies.

Dr. Kalbi actively participates in national and international leadership roles. These include serving as an American College of Nuclear Medicine (ACNM) Intern (2025–2027), Vice President of Education for the Nuclear Medicine Residents Organization (NMRO), and Secretary of the Indo-American Society of Nuclear Medicine (IASNM). He is also a member of the Committee on In-Training & Early Career Professionals at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).
