Adam Jacobs, M.D., graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering. He then attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. Jacobs went on to complete his preliminary internship year in general surgery at Brookwood Baptist Health Systems, followed by his residency in diagnostic radiology with early specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating residency, he went on to complete an additional independent residency in vascular and interventional radiology at UAB. He is currently an assistant professor in the Division of Intervention Radiology. Junaid Raja, M.D., MSPH, is an assistant professor in the Division of Interventional Radiology at the University of Alabama Birmingham. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina prior to attending Duke University, double majoring in Chemistry and Political Science. He then earned a Master's in Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master's of Science in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University before attending medical school at Ross University. Dr. Raja is a fully trained and board certified internist having trained and practiced in Internal Medicine at the Waterbury track at Yale New Haven Hospital prior to pursuing additional training in Diagnostic and Vascular Interventional Radiology also at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Raja has a broad range of interests and expertise ranging from adult and pediatric interventional oncology (transarterial embolizations and ablations), arteriovenous malformations, complex biliary interventions (including advanced percutaneous endoscopy), portal hypertension, deep venous disease, trauma, and critical care in interventional radiology. Theresa Caridi, M.D., FSIR, is a clinical associate professor of Interventional Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and medical director for Varian Interventional Solutions, a Siemens Healthineers Company. As a result of her longstanding dedication to the study of women’s health interventions and advocacy for women’s health patients, she holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB. After attending the University of Florida for medical school and Radiology residency, Dr. Caridi completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. The first seven years of her career were spent at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., before joining the faculty at UAB to serve as the division director for Interventional Radiology and vice chair of Interventional Affairs for the Department of Radiology from 2020-2023. Dr. Caridi has been an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), serving on the executive council for many years, most recently as chair of the SIR Foundation Board of Directors from 2022-2023. Special interests include the minimally invasive treatment of uterine fibroids and other uterine conditions, pelvic venous insufficiency/varicocele, prostate hyperplasia, knee osteoarthritis, and pulmonary arteriovenous malformations. She is a national/international lecturer, reviewer, and active publisher on research related to these topics. Dr. Caridi’s care includes the full spectrum of image-guided procedures and along with her team, she strives to provide treatment for her patients in the same manner she would want for her own family member. Dr. Salei completed his medical school at Belarusian State Medical University in Minsk, Belarus. After finishing his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Pennsylvania, he completed his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at UAB. Dr. Salei then joined the Interventional Radiology faculty at UAB. His areas of clinical interest are Oncologic Interventions (Chemoembolization, Radioembolization and Ablation), Prostatic Artery Embolization, Portal Hypertension Interventions, as well as Kyphoplasty and Interventional Pain Management.
