Megan Hays, Ph.D., associate professor and clinical psychologist in the UAB Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was selected to join the Class of 2024 Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA).
The Healthcare Leadership Academy is a cohesive and comprehensive program that offers training opportunities and helps develop essential skills for leaders. Hays will gain new perspective on critical leadership and managerial issues and a deeper understanding and awareness of concepts and techniques relevant to management.
Hays is one of 30 individuals chosen based on their outstanding achievements, dedication, and potential to contribute significantly to the academy. Participants are selected by an advisory board in a manner that ensures diversity with regard to academic specialty, professional background, demographic profile, and experience.
“HLA is a great opportunity to hone my leadership skills, learn more about my strengths and areas of growth as a leader, and to learn more about the healthcare system,” stated Hays. “I am excited to network with other leaders across UAB. I look forward to applying what I learn in HLA in my quest to improve the wellbeing of our healthcare workers.”
Nominations are sought from the deans of Health Professions schools and department chairs and center directors of Joint Health Sciences and the Heersink School of Medicine, including branch campuses. In addition, the University Hospital, Kirklin Clinic, and Health Services Foundation are asked to submit administrative nominees.
The Healthcare Leadership Academy training program is a joint UAB effort of the Heersink School of Medicine and the Collat School of Business.
