The American Psychological Association has selected UAB’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation associate professor Megan Hays, Ph.D., ABPP as the 2024 recipient of the Division 22 Mentoring Award.
“This award is an incredible honor and very meaningful to me, as teaching and mentoring are some of the most fulfilling aspects of my job,” Hays said.
This Mentoring Award is given to honor a rehabilitation psychologist who has displayed excellence in mentoring clinical, counseling, or rehabilitation psychology graduate students, interns, post-doctoral fellows, or junior faculty. This award began in 2013 and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their professional generosity, supporting, encouraging, and promoting professional and personal growth, and education, training, and leadership in rehabilitation psychology.
“Megan is an amazing clinical educator. This award is a well-deserved acknowledgment of the tireless work she offers in educating our post-docs, graduate students, interns, and PM&R residents daily,” shared Casey Azuero, Ph.D., MPH, ABPP, UAB Department of PM&R associate professor and Director Division of Rehabilitation Psychology.
Hays received the official award at the February American Psychology Association Division 22 (Rehabilitation Psychology) annual meeting in Austin Texas.
