Danielle Powell, MD appointed to Alabama Board of Home Medical EquipmentThe University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs, Danielle Powell, M.D., has been appointed to the Alabama Board of Home Medical Equipment by the Office of Governor Kay Ivey.

Powell was sworn in by Commissioner Twinkle Cavanaugh, President of the Alabama Public Service Commission and Jason Jones, Board Chair on January 28, 2025.

The Alabama Board of Home Medical Equipment (ABME) is responsible for regulating the licensing and operations of businesses and individuals involved in providing home medical equipment services in Alabama. The board ensures that companies and professionals comply with state laws and standards to protect the health, safety, and welfare of patients who rely on medical equipment in their homes.

Home medical equipment services in Alabama are delivered by licensed home medical equipment providers deemed qualified, professional, and ethical, ensuring maximum public protection.
