UAB Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Assistant Professor, Casey Azuero, Ph.D., MPH, recently presented “Standardization of care for patients with SCI across care continuum: A pilot study” at the 24th Annual Rehabilitation Psychology Conference in February. 

This ongoing project with the SRC Spinal Cord Injury team has been in the works since 2018, Azuero says it was wonderful to finally be able to share the findings with a national audience.

"Given the success of the pilot project in demonstrating success in engaging key stakeholders, creating buy-in, and implementing a multi-level intervention across care sites at a large academic hospital as a feasible and effective endeavor, this project will launch hospital wide this fall and has been used as a model to create similar projections for other diagnoses at UAB. This “systemic change” was very well received and held in high regard at this national meeting." says Dr. Azuero.
