Translating basic science into clinical practice
Pharmacology and toxicology are unique disciplines in biomedical research that serve to translate basic science findings into preclinical and clinical investigations and practice. As such, our faculty have developed productive, interactive and innovative research programs that span (1) the development of unique models, technologies and facilities with which to identify new drug targets and biological pathways that impact human disease, (2) the development and evaluation of new or repurposed therapeutics, (3) determining the mechanisms of drug distribution, action and metabolism, and (4) developing metabolomics, pharmacometrics and quantitative clinical pharmacology capabilities.
