
This Symposium is a sponsored collaboration of the UAB-UCSD O'Brien Center for Acute Kidney Injury Research, the Divisions of Nephrology at UAB and the University of California San Diego, the Division of Data Driven and Digital Medicine (D3M) at Mt. Sinai Healthcare System, and the UAB Nephrology Research and Training Center.
Objectives
- Promote collaboration among experts in medicine, biomedical informatics, and related fields
- Showcase cutting-edge research of latest findings and innovations in AI-driven diagnostics, prognostics, and therapeutics
- Identify future research and implementation directions
- Promote further development of AI and Digital Health in Nephrology
The symposium will feature keynote presentations from renowned experts, panel discussions, and roundtable rotations. Young investigators and trainees, particularly from UAB as the inaugural host institution, will also have the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from established researchers.

On April 23–24, 2026, the AI in Nephrology Conference was hosted with support from UC San Diego School of Medicine, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, the George M. O'Brien Kidney National Resource Center (a partnership between the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of California San Diego), and UAB Medicine, with appreciation to the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) for its support of AI in Nephrology 2026.
