On March 4, 2023, the annual Laura Crandall Brown Foundation Taste of Teal Gala was held at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. The event celebrated the efforts of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to gynecology cancer patients and survivors, and one outstanding honoree was Warner K. Huh, M.D., FACOG, FACS, professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Huh is a highly respected physician who has dedicated his career to advancing the field of gynecologic oncology. He has become a leader in this field through his research, clinical practice, and extensive involvement in medical societies and organizations. The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation recognized Huh's ongoing commitment to research and advocacy as well as his efforts on behalf of those with gynecologic cancer.

Each year, Taste of Teal recognizes four Legacy of Laura Honorees through videos to celebrate the hope, compassion, positivity, and strength through action that they have brought to the lives of gynecologic cancer patients and survivors. This year, Huh was one of those honored for his contributions through video tribute.

Huh's achievements are impressive. He currently serves as chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has authored or co-authored over 280 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts, and his work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and other organizations.

In addition to his research, Huh is a highly experienced surgeon and has performed thousands of operations for patients with gynecologic cancer. He is also a mentor to the next generation of gynecologic oncologists and has trained numerous residents and fellows during his career.

Huh has also served as the president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), the leading professional organization for gynecologic oncologists, and has been involved in many other nationally-recognized organizations. Through his leadership roles, he has helped to shape the direction of the field and has worked to increase awareness of gynecologic cancer and improve patient care.

The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to increase awareness of gynecologic cancer and support those affected by it. They host events like the Taste of Teal Gala to honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the cause. The foundation was established in memory of Laura Crandall Brown, who passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 25.

Huh's recognition as a Legacy of Laura honoree is a testament to his dedication to improving the lives of those with gynecologic cancer.
