- Christopher Willey, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Radiation Oncology, on current and future cancer therapies and patient-specific treatments
- Anupam Agarwal, M.D., professor and division director of Nephrology, on transplantation complications, diabetes and kidney failure
- Nancy Tofil, M.D., Ed.D., associate professor of Pediatrics in Critical Care, on the critical care of pediatric patients and the training of future physicians
- Amit Gaggar, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine, on future therapies for COPD and cystic fibrosis; lung disease and allergies
Established in 2012, the UAB student chapter of APSA includes some 100 students in the schools of Medicine and Public Health, and commonly partners with various other UAB schools/degree programs. The organization’s goal is to aid in the training of successful physician scientists by providing opportunities for professional development, career planning and networking within the scientific and medical communities.
