Anupam Agarwal, M.D., senior vice president for Medicine and dean of the Heersink School of Medicine, has been selected to Leadership Alabama’s Class XXXIV for the year 2024-2025.
Leadership Alabama (LA) expands the footprint of leaders across Alabama, offering a structure for the current class to seek mutual understanding of challenges and priorities for Alabama’s future. The program encourages its members to move Alabama forward to its highest potential.
This year, Agarwal joins 80 other leaders who are represented in the industries of public service, energy, research, medicine, technology, economics, higher education, law, and many more.
LA was founded in 1990 to understand and discuss key challenges in Alabama with the state's top industry leaders while inventing impactful solutions in social, economic, and governmental areas.
Leadership Alabama's current class will discuss challenges related to Alabama's ecosystem and environment, business and workforce development, politics and government, and quality of life and education.
“It is a privilege to represent UAB Heersink School of Medicine in this year’s Leadership Alabama class,” said Agarwal. “Gaining deeper insights into all four corners of Alabama will help me drive our mission and vision forward. This experience will enhance our efforts to address the unique health challenges and opportunities across the state.”
Agarwal will meet Class XXXIV in person at a retreat in October.
