Adam Agee has been named director of Information Technology for the Heersink School of Medicine, effective December 1, 2023. Agee has served as interim director since June 2023 after the passing of longtime director John Taylor. In this role, Agee will strategize the vision and guide the direction of the Medical Education Information Services (MEIS) team moving forward.
“I am truly honored and humbled take on this new role and build upon the tremendous legacy of my late mentor and predecessor, John Taylor,” Agee says. “I am grateful for my team and everything they have done to get us this far. I look forward to further serving the school and leading MEIS to achieve our ultimate goal of ushering in the next generation of technologies and services that will empower the school for years to come.”
Throughout his 13-year tenure in MEIS and under the mentorship of John Taylor, Agee has worked in nearly every role within the department, starting as a technician. After obtaining his B.S. in Computer Science and M.S. in Management Information Systems from UAB, he served in other capacities, including as assistant director of Information Technology. Agee also serves as the school’s representative to the AAMC’s Group on Information Resources.
“The Department of Medical Education is so grateful for the work Adam has done over the past 13 years, especially during the last several months since John Taylor’s unfortunate passing,” notes Craig Hoesley, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education. “We look forward to seeing Adam’s leadership as he takes on this new role. Given his experience in our department and expertise in his field, I know he is ready to enter this pivotal role and provide the critical support necessary. He will continue to carry on MEIS’s mission of providing the very best technology experience for our students, faculty, and staff.”
