Jason K. Daniel, MBA, has been appointed senior executive officer for Finance and Administration in the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine, effective Sept. 1. Daniel will also continue in his role as vice president of the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, P.C. (UAHSF).
As senior executive officer for Finance and Administration, Daniel will ensure organizational continuity and alignment in finance, human resources, facilities, communications, and compliance for Heersink. He will participate in strategic planning and collaborate with the university, UAB Health System (UABHS), and UAHSF on all administrative and financial activities. He will also collaborate with the Health System, UAHSF, and Heersink department administrators in school leadership recruitment and retention efforts.
Daniel has held various leadership positions at UAB during his tenure, including five years as the executive administrator for the Department of Medicine. Throughout these past 25 years, he has developed numerous frameworks that have provided structure and support for mission-critical activities. Recently, he helped launch the Executive Administrator Advisory Group to create alignment of administrators with UABHS, Heersink, and UAHSF, a mechanism that has dramatically reduced duplicative, burdensome work requests. He helped build and implement the prototype for shared services models that have become the finance and human resources standard. Daniel has also designed and built custom dashboards for financial and operational metrics that provide critical data for decision makers at all levels of the organization.
