The Heersink School of Medicine is excited to announce the start of the Dean’s Excellence Awards for Staff. These awards will acknowledge the outstanding contributions of exceptional Heersink staff members across all mission areas.
Recognizing individual performers within our organization is crucial to expressing our highest level of appreciation, demonstrating our value in their work, and showcasing their dedication to others.
The staff members selected for this honor will have significantly contributed to the core mission areas (education, clinical care, and basic, translational, and clinical research) and demonstrated outstanding accomplishments beyond their job description. Examples could look like individuals who:
- foster a sense of belonging and build cooperative teams that promote inclusivity
- advocate for others and inspire positive change in people and processes
- offer creative, innovative solutions
- participate within and outside of their unit/department for the greater good of the HSOM
A selection committee will oversee the peer-review process for the awards and present a final list to Anupam Agarwal, M.D., dean of the Heersink School of Medicine, for approval.
Nominations for the 2023 Dean’s Excellence Awards for Staff are now open. Peers and supervisors may nominate any full-time Heersink School of Medicine staff employee in Workgroup A or C who has been employed in their current department, center, institute, unit, or office for at least one year (on or before July 1, 2022). Self-nominations will not be accepted for this high honor.
Nomination packets should include the following:

- A single page nomination letter addressing:
- how the nominee contributes to Heersink’s core mission areas (education, clinical care, and basic, translational, and clinical research) and how they exceed and excel beyond their typical job duties
