For more than 20 years, UAB has recognized the extraordinary contributions of outstanding women faculty, staff, students, administrators and those women in the community to whom we owe respect and gratitude. The Commission on the Status of Women is honored to accept nominations for the 2019 Outstanding Women Awards. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25. You can submit a nomination by filling out a form online here.
Please nominate a woman who has contributed significant effort in the service of women or has advanced the issues that primarily affect women by performing any/all of the following tasks:
- Making it easier for women to achieve professional growth and/or success
- Taking a courageous stance in the face of adversity or against popular opinion
- Providing significant service to women within or external to UAB
- Overcoming significant adversity to achieve her goal(s)
Nominate a deserving UAB woman in one or more of the following categories:
- Outstanding Woman UAB Student (Undergraduate or Graduate)
- Outstanding Woman UAB Postdoc
- The Becky Trigg Outstanding Woman Faculty Member
- The Susan D. Marchase Outstanding Woman Administrator
- Outstanding Woman UAB Staff Member
- Outstanding Woman in the Community
Here is the information you will need to nominate someone:
- Include the nominee’s full name and contact information
- Check the nomination category (student, postdoc, faculty, administrator/staff, or community) for your nominee
- Include your contact information
- Submit up to three nominations per nominee (multiple signatories allowed)
Award nominations will be evaluated based on the following items:
- Impact—What is the reach of the service or action? Who benefits from the service or action? What are the populations served? What is/are the outcome(s) of the service or action?
- Relevance—How does the work address or satisfy the needs of or issues that affect women at UAB or in the community? Is it above and beyond daily duties and responsibilities of their roles at UAB or in the community?
