The UAB School of Medicine will host the 7th Annual Southeastern Immunology Symposium (SIS) on June 16 and 17 at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel and Medical Forum Conference Center. The Symposium provides a forum where the newest developments in basic, translational and clinical immunology will be shared with the goal of fostering increased relationships and collaborations.
Seventeen leading faculty from institutions across the southeast and three distinguished keynote speakers will present their work. Two interactive poster sessions will highlight the science carried out by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, with four select posters chosen for oral presentation.
“The first SIS meeting was held at UAB in 2011 and was organized by the UAB Program in Immunology, headed by Dr. Harry Schroeder,” said Frances Lund, Ph.D., Charles H. McCauley Professor and chair of the Department of Microbiology. “This June, SIS is returning to UAB and Birmingham for the first time in 5 years after being hosted at various other universities. We anticipate approximately 300 trainees, scientists and faculty members to attend and will have an exciting lineup of speakers, including three keynote lectures, as well as an additional 20 speakers from universities across the South and Southeastern United States.”
Registration is already open and can be found here. The last day to register for the Symposium or to submit abstracts is May 15.
