Desalyn Johnson, fourth year Heersink student, has received the Jefferson Underwood Minority Scholarship Award. The Medical Association of the State of Alabama (MASA) presented Johnson with her award at their Oct. 19 meeting in Montgomery.

Internationally recognized physician scientist Richard C. Shelton, M.D. is joining the Huntsville Regional Medical Campus as its first-ever director of research, a new position to help establish clinical investigation and clinical trials in Huntsville.
The School of Medicine welcomed its first-year medical students with an orientation July 23-27. During the weeklong orientation, the 2018 incoming class enjoyed academic sessions from faculty members and breakout sessions led by a group of second-year medical students who served as orientation leaders.
