The UAB School of Medicine will celebrate Match Day 2013 on Friday, March 15, at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center, when members of the graduating class learn in which medical specialty they have “matched” where they will carry out their residency.
The first match will be announced at 11 a.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. with a short program beginning at 10:30 a.m. You can watch the ceremony live at www.uab.edu/matchday and follow live tweets from @uabsom.
Match Day is coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program, which provides an impartial venue for matching residency programs with the 16,000 U.S. medical school students and 20,000 independent applicants—including graduates from international medical and U.S. osteopathic schools— who compete for available positions each year.
Currently, 169 students are set to graduate from the UAB School of Medicine in June 2013.
