On the eve of Veteran’s Day, I invite the School of Medicine community to join me in taking a few moments to express the deepest and most sincere gratitude to veterans, who have made it their duty to serve our country.
These extraordinary men and women make tremendous sacrifices for themselves and their families in order to protect the United States both at home and abroad. They take this duty not out of obligation, but out of courage, honor and dignity.
We have veterans across the UAB campus, including faculty, staff, students, residents and fellows in the School of Medicine. These individuals who work, teach and study in our institution enhance the diversity of our university by bringing unique perspectives and experience.
So take a moment to express your appreciation to our men and women who have served in uniform for their commitment to our country, their courage and their sacrifice.
