Translational Research Seminar Series

The UAB MSTP sponsors a monthly evening seminar series (CAMS: Translational Research Seminar, MSTP 794), which invites speakers from UAB Heersink SOM and other institutions currently involved in translational research. The CAMS Student Committee oversees the selection of speakers and manages the monthly seminars. This includes speaker confirmations, introductions, and evaluations.

Meeting Location

Volker Hall, Lecture Room A
1670 University Blvd.
Birmingham AL 35294

Meeting Details

All students are required to attend. The meetings start at 5:30PM. Dinner is served from 5:30PM - 6PM, followed by a presentation. The speaker is introduced at 6PM, and the talk typically is followed by a question and answer session ending by 7PM.

Registration

MSTP students in Medical School (i.e., MS1s, MS2s) are automatically enrolled through the SOM pre-clincial course schedule. MS3s and MS4s are required to attend when their clinical schedule is open.

MSTP students in Graduate School (Graduate School tuition being paid - GS1, GS2, GS3, GS4, GS5) register for the course when registeration opens for the term.

Evaluation and Grading

Evaluation is based strictly on attendance. It is the student's responsibility to sign in at each session. Grades will either be a pass or fail for the course. Students must attend at least 90% of the total meetings held, not including the holiday party, in order to pass the course.
