Christina was born in Oklahoma City, OK. She attended the University of Oklahoma for both her undergraduate degree in Chemical Biosciences and her medical degree (Boomer Sooner!). She has loved her last several years as a resident at UAB and is looking forward to all of her educational opportunities during her CMR year. She will be applying to pulmonary/critical care fellowship with a specific focus as a Clinician Educator. Outside of the hospital, Christina loves spending time outdoors, exploring nearby trails and neighborhoods with her dog Moose, and seeing what the Bham culinary scene has to offer.

  • Mark Cromer

Mark was born in Indiana but grew up in the small town of Temperance in southeastern Michigan. He attended undergrad at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina, and medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston. Mark and his wife Tori have three children – Liam (age 5), Lucas (3), and Emma (1). Mark enjoys spending quality family time at places like the Birmingham Zoo and McWane Science Center, playing sports (Liam is a big fan of Topgolf), watching college football and local sporting events, and sampling Birmingham’s local breweries and restaurants. Mark and Tori have enjoyed all that Birmingham has to offer couples and young families during their time at UAB. Mark is pursuing a fellowship in gastroenterology.

  • Julie England

Julie grew up on a farm and ranch in Winters, TX. She attended Texas A&M University, where she studied biochemistry and English. After college, she attended Texas Tech University Health Science Center to train as a PA, before returning to Texas A&M for medical school. She is planning a career in Infectious Disease, with a focus in medical education, health disparities, and she is considering specialization in transplant or critical care. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new foods, hiking, playing guitar/piano, and spending time with loved ones.

  • Brian Westbrook

Brian grew up in Anniston, AL. There he developed a passion for medicine including hematology and oncology before going to Auburn for his undergraduate degree. He and his wife Keri moved to Birmingham for medical school and fell in love with the city and even more so the people, and they were thrilled to stay at UAB for Brian’s internal medicine residency and now his Chief Medical Resident year. They now have a 1 year old son Eli and enjoy figuring out parenting as well as their church community, their dog Bailey, the hiking trails and parks, Auburn football, and running in Homewood. He is applying for a hematology and oncology fellowship.
