The Institute for Cancer Outcomes and Survivorship (ICOS) at UAB was founded in 2015 to meet the needs of the growing population of cancer survivors. The institute is a University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of MedicineInitiative with support from the School of Medicine, the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB and the Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, Surgery and Radiation Oncology.
Mission
The mission of ICOS is to reduce the burden of cancer and its sequelae across all segments of the population, through interdisciplinary research, health promotion and education, envisioning a world where cancer survivors live long and healthy lives.
