Our department's flagship professional development program is Leadership DOM, a competency-based curriculum where participants identify and improve individual leadership skills in a shared learning environment.
Through this year-long course, staff and faculty in the Department of Medicine (DOM) are equipped for current or emerging leadership roles. Participants emerge from the experience ready to leverage individual and personal skills taught throughout the course, including protecting personal bandwidth, approaches to resolving conflict, and strategies for driving change.
DOM seeks up to 60 participants for its Leadership DOM (LDOM) class each year. Attendance is expected for all 12 sessions; applicants who miss more than two sessions will not be eligible to graduate. Sessions are co-facilitated by leadership development coach and clinical psychologist Dr. Julie McDonald, and UAB Department of Medicine Director of Strategic Operations Stacy Buford, MSA.
