The UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC) was invited to educate Birmingham Airport Authority employees on diabetes signs, symptoms, and prevention.

Over 120 Birmingham Airport Authority (BAA) employees attended the annual Health and Wellness Fair. At the event, UCDC staff, including a registered nurse, were able to provide helpful health information regarding Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes as well as prediabetes.

BAA employees were invited to spin the wheel to select a question and then answer an educational question about diabetes. Many employees shared their own stories of their journey with diabetes as well as that they had other loved ones with diabetes in their life.

Several employees expressed their gratitude to have UCDC staff on hand to answer questions and provide education materials on the disease. The UCDC looks forward to continuing to support this event in the future as well as other community education opportunities.
