W. Timothy Garvey, M.D.W. Timothy Garvey, M.D., associate director of the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center (UCDC) and director and principal investigator of the NIH-funded UAB Diabetes Research Center (DRC), was awarded the Gerald Reaven Distinguished Leader in Insulin Resistance Award by the World Congress on Insulin Resistance, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease (WCIRDC).

The award honors Garvey’s decades of research in carbohydrate metabolism and insulin resistance. Read more in UAB News.

DRC is one of only a few NIH-funded Diabetes Research Centers in the nation and operates in collaboration with the UCDC to promote excellence in diabetes research and patient care.
