UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center Member and Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Assistant Professor Fernando Bril, M.D., recently sat down with UAB MedCast podcast to talk about metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and diabetes.
MASLD was formerly called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. MASLD is the most common chronic liver disease across the globe, affecting more than 30% of the population, according to the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. About three out of four people with Type 2 diabetes have MASLD, and people with MASLD have an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
