The Department of Dermatology’s education mission encompasses the teaching and training of medical students and graduate students as well as residents and fellows. The department offers three programs, a dermatology residency program, a dermatopathology fellowship program, and a micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology fellowship program. 

The dermatology residency program at UAB is highly competitive. The program is a three-year experience which will prepare the physician for either the private practice of dermatology or a career in academic medicine. All major areas of dermatological training are represented within the scope of the training program. These include adult and pediatric clinical dermatology, dermatopathology, dermatological surgery, and clinical and basic research.
