The Clinical Trials Administrative Office (CTAO) oversees the various policies, procedures, systems, and initiatives supporting the clinical trials conducted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

UAB consists of over 350 principal investigators and nearly 2,000 support staff across 7 schools and colleges (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Optometry, Public Health, Health Professions, and College of Arts & Sciences). Collectively, these individuals conduct $200 million of trials across a myriad of disciplines that inform the decision-makers driving the new wave of therapeutics for tomorrow’s patients. By constantly assessing and improving our infrastructure as well as ensuring our personnel are well trained in their various roles, we are able to not only provide the highest quality care to our trial participants, but also do so in the most efficient and timely manner possible. Through the utilization of institutional systems, we are able to bring a higher level of consistency to our data tracking.
