Microarray platforms for gene expression studies have been replaced with sequencing. Illumina has discontinued all of their expression chips and the Core no longer supports the Affymetrix system.  Gene expression studies are now done on the Illumina NextSeq500 platform.  Sequencing assays for gene expression have a larger dynamic range, are more sensitive, can identify splice variants, fusion transcripts and coding variants.

Gene expression assays for targeted genes are also available in different platforms.  Custom capture probes can be designed to isolate specific transcripts from the cell or QPCR based arrays can be run on the Roche LightCycler 480 Real Time PCR machine within the core.
