Manila Shinde, B.D.S., M.D.S., M.S., assistant professor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, has been appointed to the Radioisotope and Radiation Safety Committee (RRSC).
The committee helps oversee the safe use of radiation-producing equipment and radioactive materials across UAB’s clinical, research and educational environments.
A board certified oral and maxillofacial radiologist, Shinde supports the school’s radiology education and compliance efforts and has academic and clinical interests in cone beam computed tomography and temporomandibular disorders.
“I am honored to serve on the committee and contribute to efforts that support radiation safety and patient care across the university,” says Shinde. “This opportunity aligns closely with my interests in oral and maxillofacial radiology, education and clinical quality.”
“Dr. Shinde brings valuable expertise and perspective to this important university committee,” says Shandra Coble, D.M.D., associate professor in the Department of Endodontics. “Her background in radiology and commitment to patient care, education and safety make her well suited for this role.”
Shinde joined the UAB School of Dentistry faculty in 2023.
