Welcome to the UAB Undergraduate Program in Genetics and Genomic Sciences (GGS)
Genetics and genomics make up the informational blueprint of life. The field seeks an understanding of how genetic information codes and regulates the structure and function of all life processes. Research in genetics and genomic sciences is not only reaching ever-new horizons, but also impacting the health and well-being of individuals, communities, and entire populations.
Research and training in Genetics and Genomic Sciences at UAB is led by world-renowned experts and scholars in genetics. The cumulative experience of researchers at UAB creates an excellent environment that facilitates both a broad and deep understanding of the field.
The GGS undergraduate program started in the fall of 2017, as a collaborative effort between the Department of Genetics in the Heersink School of Medicine, and the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences.
