Admissions
All students must satisfy UAB general admission requirements and be successfully admitted to the university. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the Bioinformatics program, admission criteria is higher than those for either biology or computer science. You must meet the following minimum criteria:
- First-time freshmen applicants must have high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and either an ACT composite score of 28 or higher and/or 1260 SAT V+Q.
- Current UAB students wishing to change/declare a major in Bioinformatics must have completed the courses in the first year of the degree with a 3.0 GPA (see Plan of Study).
- Transfer students must have completed the courses in the first year of the degree with a 3.0 GPA (see Plan of Study).
