Access Survey Results | Leadership Expectations

Every two years UAB conducts a listening campaign by partnering with ModernThink to survey employees on how well certain aspects of the university, its leadership, and its processes are working. The leaders of each unit/school/college are provided with the aggregate survey results specific to their area. See the information below regarding access to reports, leadership expectations and reporting goals.

Senior leaders can click the button below to see their area’s specific results. To allow others to have access to these reports, or if you have questions about accessing these reports or would like assistance in viewing additional reports, please contact CESurvey@uab.edu.


Access Unit-Specific Results

Faculty Chair/Dean 360 Evaluations Results

In addition to the Campus Engagement Survey results, deans will also have reports available from the faculty-specific survey administered through Faculty Senate. 

The results will be available by May 30 and will be added to the same box folder as your Campus Engagement Survey results for your convenience.


Leadership Expectations


  • Step 1: Schedule a Coaching Session with Modern Think Consultant

    Step 1: Schedule a Coaching Session with Modern Think Consultant

    Date: May 12-May 30, 2025

    Leadership can schedule a one-on-one coaching session with Modern Think’s Founder, Rich Boyer, between May 12 and May 30, 2025. During this session, Rich can help analyze results, provide suggestions, and give tips on how to share and act on the results successfully.

    Leaders or their assistants can contact Joan Hill with Modern Think at jhill@modernthink.com to schedule a session.

  • Step 2: Meet with leaders in your unit to discuss the results

    Step 2: Meet with leaders in your unit to discuss the results

    Date: By August 1, 2025

    Leaders should meet with the leaders who report to them to distribute, review, and discuss the data. Many units have data that can be filtered by the sub-units to give these leaders data specific to their area and how it compares to their larger unit and UAB overall.

  • Step 3: Share results with employees

    Step 3: Share results with employees

    Date: By September 30, 2025

    Every leader is expected to hold a town hall with their unit, including all employees (staff and faculty). In this town hall, leaders can utilize the PowerPoint presentation and reports provided by Modern Think to show the results of their respective unit’s responses. This town hall is a great chance to have further activities, discussions and suggestions on how to act on this feedback. Please make sure an email is sent to all employees in your unit as a follow-up containing the results for those that could not attend.

    Contact Campus Engagement Survey Project Coordinators Susan Coan and Jerad Watson if you would like consultation or assistance with facilitating your unit’s town hall.

    Note for Deans: The results from the Dean/Chair 360 Evaluation are expected by May 30. The Provost Office is encouraging deans to combine results from ModernThink’s Survey and the Dean/Chair 360 Evaluation to share in one town hall meeting with staff/faculty. Further communication will be provided in the coming months to assist you.

  • Step 4: Create and report goals

    Step 4: Create and report goals

    Date: By October 31, 2025

    After having your town hall and sharing the results with all of your employees, it is important to define actionable goals to address the areas identified for improvement. This should be a dialogue with your employees or a committee/team of employees that can provide input/feedback on the goals set in response to the survey.

    Once these goals are identified, leaders should submit these goals into the Campus Engagement Survey Goals App.

  • Step 5: Track and report progress

    Step 5: Track and report progress

    Date: Fall 2025-Ongoing

    Leaders are expected to track progress on the goals and report progress in the Campus Engagement Survey Goals App quarterly. In addition to reporting them into the app, leaders should ensure that updates are provided to employees throughout the year. Highlighting milestones and progress on goals can be done during staff/faculty meetings, retreats, newsletters, emails, etc.
