To promote the success of all students, faculty and staff, the Office of Access & Engagement supports the campus community in making opportunities accessible, promoting our shared values and complying with state and federal laws, as well as other requirements. We collaborate with students, faculty and staff to promote a campus environment that values respect, collaboration, and well-being by offering campus-wide community education programs, developing and monitoring policies and employment practices, and investigating internal and external complaints of discrimination and harassment. We also serve as the university’s liaison to the federal government on matters of federal contract compliance.
AWARE - Disability Resources and Services (Faculty & Staff)
The AWARE program at UAB partners with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) to provide disability-management services to employees when their job is affected by a physical, mental, or emotional impairment. The program is committed to providing a university experience that facilitates equal access and opportunity to all employees.
Disability Resources and Services (Students)
UAB’s Disability Support Services provides an accessible university experience, creating a campus where individuals with disabilities have equal access to programs, activities, and opportunities by identifying and removing barriers, providing individualized services, and facilitating accommodations.
Student Conduct
Student Conduct is responsible for upholding the integrity and purpose of the university through the fair and consistent application of policies and procedures to students’ behavior to ensure a community that respects the dignity and right of all persons to reach their highest potential.
Title IX
UAB’s Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance & Administration oversees the University’s compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The Title IX Office works to ensure that University policies and programs foster a campus community free of discrimination, harassment, exploitation, violence, and stalking.
Veteran Recruitment and Student Services
UAB’s Veteran Recruitment and Student Services actively seeks to assist veterans, service members, dependents, and survivors in capitalizing on military educational benefits and promote successful transition into an academic setting.
