Representing UAB’s beauty, complexity, and distinctiveness in photos is no mean feat—this is a big place with lots of people and lots going on, every day.
There’s the task of capturing our people: employees, students, patients, families, athletes, fans, donors, community members, and volunteers. There’s the task of photographing our campus: more than 100 square blocks of green spaces and building spaces, both inside and out. There’s the task of capturing the signature moments that tell our shared story: a smile, a grateful hug between a patient and their provider, a moment of victory on the court or field, a lab where the team is close to a breakthrough, a classroom of students learning from an expert faculty member. And then there’s editing those hundreds of photos we shoot each month and getting them to the project leads so they’re distributed, posted, and shared on time and to the maximum effect.
It takes an extraordinary amount of coordination, communication, and collaboration across the Office of Marketing and Communication and with our campus partners.
Our professional photographers do a remarkable job of seeing the best, the important, and the meaningful—for national news stories, for marketing campaigns, for publications like UAB Magazine and the UAB Reporter, for fundraising efforts, for social media, for websites, and for so much more. Enjoy some of their favorites from the spring 2026 semester, and keep an eye out for their beautiful work in official UAB communications in the coming months.
