About Us:
The Blazer Express Transit System provides transportation across the UAB campus and medical district . Students, employees, and authorized visitors can enjoy fare-free bus transportation along designated routes. A valid UAB ID badge or visitor pass is required upon boarding.

Bus Features
Our energy efficient fleet cuts carbon emissions through the use of quiet-ride, clean diesel and propane buses.
ADA accessibility features, such as automatic ramps and kneeling buses that lower, make it easier to enter and exit for passengers with mobility issues.
Audio-video surveillance is installed for enhanced security, with large LCD displays and enhanced GPS tracking.

Charter Trips
Blazer Express buses maybe chartered by student organizations, departments, alumni, and community affiliates to for transportation throughout Alabama and the Birmingham area.
All bus charter requests must be submitted no later than two weeks in advance from the scheduled event. A cost estimate will be provided upon confirmation of your reservation.

Routes
Blazer Express provides transportation around campus 24 hours per day. Fixed-route bus service operates between 5:20 a.m. and midnight, Monday through Friday. See routes below for specific hours. During official university holidays, the transit system runs on a reduced schedule. Check announcements and UAB Transportation social media channels for updates.
Safety Escort can be requested from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for late-night, on-demand van service.The UAB Highlands Shuttle van service travels between the main entrance of UAB Hospital-Highlands and the ramp at and Spain Wallace Towers (on 19th St South) starting at 6:50 a.m. and ending at 5:20 p.m.

I left a personal item on the bus. How can I get it back?
Call us at 205-934-3514 and we will try to retrieve it for you. We will need your name, phone number, item description, and the bus route you were riding. You will need to present a photo ID when you retrieve your item should we be able to locate it. -
Who can ride the bus?
UAB students, employees, and authorized visitors can ride the Blazer Express by showing their valid UAB ID or visitor pass. -
Is there a cost to ride the bus?
No. Blazer Express is a fare-free transit system for UAB students, employees, and authorized visitors. -
How many bus routes are there?
There are six bus routes. The routes are marked by color code -- Blue, Green North, Green South, Gold, Silver, and Purple. -
Where are the bus stops located?
There are 30+ bus stop locations strategically placed throughout the campus. Most buildings on campus are less than a five-minute walk from a bus stop. View route map. -
Are the buses wheelchair accessible?
Yes. All Blazer Express buses comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility standards. -

Where is the bus depot terminal?
The Blazer Express bus depot is located in Zone C at 608 8th Street South. The depot is the small stand-alone building with the green awning near the 7th Avenue South entrance. -
What must I have to board a bus?
Passengers must present a valid UAB ID badge or authorization card. Passengers with a valid UAB ID are allowed to bring guests on the bus. -

- Make your way onto University Boulevard
- If traveling from the south on I-65N, take exit 259 for University Boulevard, take a right on University Blvd, and travel six blocks to 16th Street South.
- If traveling from the north on I-65S, take exit 259B for 4th Avenue South, take a right on 13th Street South, travel four blocks to University Boulevard, take a left on University Blvd, and travel three blocks to 16th Street South.
- If traveling from Hwy 31/Hwy 280, take the University Boulevard exit and take a right on University Blvd. Travel nine blocks to 16th Street South.
- Turn north onto 16th Street South (toward Children’s Hospital).
- Turn left into the Visitor Parking lot.
- Proceed to the southwest corner of the Visitor Parking area for parking spots specifically designated for our Campus Visit Center guests.
